Pain in the front of the foot or in the ball of the foot is called metatarsalgia. The bones affected are called the metatarsals leading to the name of this condition being metatarsalgia. The heads of the metatarsals form the ball of the foot. Research evidence suggests that using an Orthotic with a metatarsal pad helps with metatarsalgia.
