We are looking for participants who are interested in being a part of our research project. The study investigates how prefabricated orthotics can help to decrease foot pain in older adults, as well as ease their fear of falling.
To be a part of this study, we are looking for adults who …
- are willing to be involved in a 6-week study
- are 60 years old and above
- have some form of foot pain
- are capable of walking
- live within a commutable distance to Southport, Merseyside, UK.
This study is not open to those who have had foot surgery or have compromised skin integrity of the lower limbs.
Foot conditions and pain are quite common in the older population. Not only does it cause pain and discomfort, but it also can have a huge impact on daily life.
Therefore, this research aims to investigate two main areas; how orthotics (insoles) can help to reduce pain, and how they can reduce fear of falling in older adults.
The project will identify its findings through the measurement of foot pain and functionality, and participants will be asked to fill out 2 questionnaires. Completion of these will be required at the start and end of the study. The questionnaires can be filled out by participants online or, if you prefer, we can post out a physical copy to you with a return envelope. These surveys are easy to fill out and are designed to be as straightforward as possible for participants.
The confidentiality of our participants is a top priority throughout the project, and all data collected is kept secure. You are also free to leave the study at any time you wish.
